For Your Information
Hi.
I cannot make any predictions about the future of OOC, but I can make
quite accurate projections about my level of involvement in it. The
simple fact is this: I need a full-time job in four months time.
Although my personal inclination tends towards free software or
compiler technology, I am not aware of a way to make a living from
either. (If you know of such a job opportunity, or one in the
software engineering department for that matter, please drop me a
note.)
This prospect severely cuts the time I can spend on OOC. This is
unfortunate, because it means that I will not be able to complete some
long-standing additions to OOC, like file name handling in the
library, the ADT library, or some enhancements of the compiler core.
On the other hand, I have finished the most important parts of
OOC/oo2c, and with the chapter about pragmas (which will be part of
Eric's next update) my contributions to the reference manual are done.
Therefore I think I can safely go into "mostly maintenance" mode
without leaving behind a useless mess.
Have fun.
