Some Web pointers

Hi all,

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but kept forgetting. Here's a
couple of URL's I've found of interest while looking for background
information about compilers and register allocation in particular.

  * ftp://cs.rice.edu/public/preston/thesis.ps.gz

    This is Preston Briggs' PhD thesis, covering the subject of register
    allocation in considerable detail. The allocator described in Brandis'
    paper is an elaboration of the method described by Briggs.

  * http://www.lpac.ac.uk/SEL-HPC/Articles/CompilersArchive.html

    This is the SEL-HPC Compilers & Interpreters Archive. It contains
    pointers to of papers available online, covering a wide range of topics
    concerning compilers and interpreters. It is regularly updated.

There are a few others I've only looked at briefly, so I can't comment on
them yet.
